What?
This team looked to co-create resources and learning opportunities with local elementary school teachers that encourage enthusiasm and build confidence in their students’ learning and knowledge as Thailand becomes more connected economically and culturally with other countries in Southeast Asia.
The government outlines a national curriculum including 8 subjects (science, math, art, social studies, civics education, fitness and well-being, self development, and Thai language.
Children in the village mostly live with grandparents as parents are often working in cities in other parts of the country.
Who?
Students, teachers, and administration at the Baan Hang Wao Elementary School working together with Hamid Mehmood, Jaruwan (Netting) Supolrai, Dale Walton, & Syabiqah Phang, and guided by Warisara Dowden and Shehzil Malik.
There are 5 full time teacher serving 69 students across ages 4-12 in Baan Hang Wao.
Low enrollment in village schools, such as the one in Baan Hang Wao, forces classes to combine groups, which results in 2 levels of students per classroom.
